NCC 2025 Launch at the NCH: 40 Years of Singing!

National Children's Choir celebrates 40 Years of Singing as it Launches its 2025 Concert Series at National Concert Hall, Dublin

The National Children's Choir is delighted to announce the launch of its highly anticipated concert series, which was launched last Thursday 27th February 2025 at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Started in 1985 by the late Department of Education inspector Dr Sean Creamer, the choir has earned its reputation as one of Ireland’s foremost school-based choral organisations. Since its inception, over 180,000 children have taken part. The choir is dedicated to nurturing primary school singers from across the country and inspiring a lifelong passion for music through inclusive choral participation across a wide range of genres.

The launch event featured a representative group of children which performed a preview of this year’s repertoire which is being prepared by teachers and children in schools across Ireland. This year, almost 8,000 children will perform in concerts in 12 different regions from every corner of the country, culminating in three showcase concerts in the National Concert Hall in May.

This launch not only celebrates the beginning of our concert series this year but also marks a significant moment in our history of bringing the joy of music to children across Ireland for the past 40 years.
